☕ 🇵🇪 👩🏻🌾 In Peru’s Monzón Valley, Nay Aponte, a dedicated coffee grower, has shifted from the background to engaging directly with buyers, challenging the traditional roles typically seen in smallholder farming families. Despite women contributing massively to coffee farming, they rarely hold formal land titles or lead in decision-making processes. This inequality extends to their participation in cooperatives, access to training, and control over earnings. 🚀 Cristina Manfre, Global Gender Director, TechnoServe, shed lights on how initiatives such as the Coffee Farm College and the CAFE Alliance (USAID), actively recruit and support women, ensuring they are visible and influential within the coffee industry. These programmes focus on integrating women into leadership roles in cooperatives and producer organisations, increasing their representation from 28% to 40% in Peru. 🌟 The transformation is evident as women like Nay gain confidence and visibility, leading to increased household incomes and community empowerment. Nay's involvement in initiatives like Mujeres CAFÉ, supported by the Starbucks Foundation, has empowered her to take a more active role in her family's coffee business and community leadership. 🔗 Learn more about how you can make women’s work in the coffee sector visible, and champion their economic empowerment and create a more equitable industry: https://bit.ly/448njNS #EconomicEmpowerment #GenderEquality

👩🏻💻 How to harness innovation for inclusive healthcare? Digital innovation plays a pivotal role, enabling wider healthcare access, especially in remote areas. Partnerships with organisations like Arm and UNICEF have already shown great promise in scaling digital health solutions. However, scaling these innovations isn't just about creativity; it requires inclusive financing strategies that support entrepreneurs, particularly #women and those from marginalised communities. Initiatives like Investing in Innovation Africa (i3) and WiNFUND are leading the way, offering risk-tolerant grants and leveraging NFTs to fund health innovations. 🔎 Read a summary derived from our latest report ‘Delivering healthier futures for women, children and adolescents: What is the role of business?’: https://bit.ly/Report_GFF In partnership with the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children and Adolescents and its Deliver the Future campaign, and together with the Business Fights Poverty community, we explored how the private sector can support governments to deliver healthier futures for women, children and adolescents. 🔑 The key? Designing solutions that prioritise inclusion and access, especially in lower-income countries. By focusing on practical, affordable innovations, like the non-pneumatic anti-shock garment inspired by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration technology or the heat-stable Carbetocin Ferring, we can overcome significant barriers to healthcare access. As we move forward, it's clear that public-private collaboration and smart financing will be pivotal in bringing these life-saving innovations to scale. For their contributions, we thank Annabel Beales & Sofia Ribas from Business Fights Poverty, Maty Dia Wandeler, Mariel D. Palomino, Bruno Rivalan, Sheryl Silverman at the Global Financing Facility, Katy Bumpus at Global Health Visions, Chelsea Minkler & Heather Monnet at The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Yvette Torres-Rahman & Zahid Torres-Rahman.
